It is my sad duty to report that we've suffered a death in our family. Goob (Robbie) passed away from cancer on November 16, 2007. He was 23.
Robbie was a skilled gamer, a fierce competitor, and a wonderful young man. He represented Team ?_WHO_? and Fortius Gaming in a variety of games including Battle for Middle Earth, F.E.A.R., Guild Wars, Battlefield 2 and Battlefield 2142.
This news has come as a shock to the many gamers who had the opportunity to play with Robbie over the years. Many people were unaware of his health problems. Robbie had a very rare skin disorder that resulted in the amputation of one of his legs a few years ago. In fact, when he had the surgery, he left Fortius Gaming for two weeks only telling his teammates he was going on holidays. Robbie never wanted to be treated any differently than anybody else. Online gaming was the escape from his health that he needed. Robbie loved to game, he loved to compete, and was humbled by the respect he earned from his teammates....his friends. |
